Pre-nursery & Foundation Stage

Pre Nursery (2-3 years)
Foundation Satge 1 (Nursery 3-4 years)

In the Pre-Nursery and Foundation Stage 1 our aim is to provide the children with an environment where they feel happy and confident. Our teachers and support staff are committed to making the transition into school life as smooth as possible. We work closely with parents to give feedback on each child's progress and help with issues such as separation anxiety both for children and parents! The children in pre-nursery will engage through a play based learning approach. A typical day will include literacy, maths and theme with areas such as art, physical education, science, music and ICT embedded within the lessons. The children will follow fun topics such as 'ourselves', 'The very hungry caterpillar', 'mini-beasts' and much more. Thai is taught for 30 mins 3 times a week using the same approaches mentioned above.

The main body of learning takes place in the morning sessions. At 11:30 the children eat lunch, have free play, a shower and then nap until 2:30pm. The school day runs from 8:50am to 2:50pm. Please see the Pre-Nursery settling in policy for further information.

Foundation Stage 2

The children in Foundation Stage 2 continue to follow the EYFS framework alongside the primary strategy for Literacy and Numeracy. We aim to provide the children with a fun and stimulating environment in which to learn, encouraging independence. Using a play based, hands on approach is the main ethos we to teach through, however the children will be involved in more structured and meaningful sessions as they move throughout their time in FS2. A typical day will include literacy, maths and theme with areas such as art, physical education, science, music and ICT embedded within the lessons and timetable. The children will follow fun topics such as 'ourselves', 'The very hungry caterpillar', 'mini-beasts' and much more. We aim to being these themes alive by providing class trips to places such as the aquarium, tiger show and hospital. The children learn Thai for 1 hour 5 times a week using the same 'fun based' approaches as mentioned above. Towards the end of FS2 our goal is that the majority of the children will be working towards the expectations for the end of the early years foundation stage. The school day runs from 8:50am to 3:10pm
